Ocean Surge was not painted from a storm I witnessed firsthand, although I’ve seen what high winds can do to coastal waters. At the time, I was studying Monet’s use of color, particularly the way he layered blues, purples, and whites to create depth and movement. Here, those colors became a way to explore the restless energy of a storm-driven sea.
