Composition (After Mondrian) began with a picture of Mondrian’s Composition as a reference. As I painted, I began to understand the rhythm within his work: how individual lines, shapes, and marks relate to one another until the whole composition makes sense. What initially looked like separate elements began to feel connected, each mark finding its place within the larger structure.
