Vermont Backyard brings together the familiar pieces of the landscape just outside my home: an overflowing creek, broken fencing, open meadows, and mountains rising in the distance. Storm clouds gather overhead, promising rain or snow, while the land below is the same place where we regularly watch deer pass through, snapping turtles emerge in spring, and raptors circle above the fields. It’s not an untouched Vermont landscape, but the lived-in one I know.
