Mondrian’s Tree began with the stylized trees of Mondrian as a reference, but my interpretation quickly expanded and morphed into something of its own. Without a landscape or background to ground it, the tree stands alone on the canvas, allowing its shape, movement, and structure to take over. What began as an exploration of another artist’s work became a tree with a strong presence entirely its own.
