Walking Stick

Walking Stick was inspired by two unexpected encounters with an insect that is remarkably easy to overlook. The first was a six-inch walking stick clinging to a wall in Panama; later, I discovered a much smaller version on the side of my house in Vermont. With bodies that mimic twigs so convincingly, they’re difficult to notice until you spot the legs and realize the “twig” is very much alive. I haven’t seen one since.
