Pink Vase 1/12 – “After Cézanne” begins the series of flower portraits with a bouquet that has a few advantages over the real thing: it never needs fresh water, never drops its petals, and even comes with a little fruit. Inspired by Cézanne’s flower paintings, this was the starting point for a series that would become increasingly loose and imaginative as I continued to paint through the first years of Covid lockdown. Each of this series of Covid paintings has been numbered (eg 1/12) indicating when each of these flower pieces was created during the first year of lock-down.
Painting Info: “Pink Vase. ( 1/12).” Acrylic on canvas. 2021-2022. $600.
On display at Burlington International Airport, second floor walkway.
