Is There a Storm Brewing? is a small watercolor painted as a warm-up before moving on to larger work. I was loosening my arm and letting the brush move freely, and somewhere in that exercise, a landscape and the suggestion of an approaching storm began to emerge. Sometimes a painting starts simply by putting the brush in motion.
