Dune on Quiet Day looks out over LeCount Beach on one of its calmer mornings, beneath a nearly perfect sky that certainly wasn’t there every day. I took many early morning photographs of these dunes, watching the light, weather, and landscape continually change. I later completed the painting in Vermont using those photographs as reference, preserving one particularly quiet version of a place that rarely stays the same for long.
