Bird’s Eye View explores the landscape from above, with the sense of soaring over water and land rather than standing within it. I think of it as part of a long tradition of artists experimenting with this elevated perspective, from Andrew Wyeth to Mondrian and Edward Hopper. Seen from high above, familiar shapes become less literal and the landscape begins to move toward abstraction.
