Blue Butterfly 11/12 – “After Cézanne” comes near the end of a series that began with Cézanne as a reference and gradually became looser and more personal. At this point, the flowers had moved well beyond those early, careful arrangements, with imagined blooms, freer color, and a blue butterfly finding its way into the composition. What began as a study had become something entirely my own.
